Gannon University will welcome over 640 first-year students to its Erie campus as the university starts a new academic year on Aug. 23. These first-year students add to Gannon’s total enrollment of over 4,700 students across both its Erie and Ruskin campuses.
First-year arrival day on Friday, Aug. 17 represents the start of Welcome Week, which is five days of activities that are designed to acclimate students to the new year, connect with peers, find a mentor on campus and create a sense of belonging at Gannon.
“We are looking forward to kicking off the start of another great year with first-year arrival day,” said President Walter Iwanenko, Ph.D. “It’s fantastic to see students on campus again. There are a number of activities for both them and our employees to get involved with in the coming week.”
The Convocation Ceremony on Tuesday, Aug. 22 will formally observe and symbolize the beginning of the academic year and officially welcome Gannon’s newest class of students. The IgKnight Activities Fair and an Ice Cream Social will wrap up Gannon’s Welcome Week on Aug. 22, and will feature food, games, prizes and music as students meet their peers and engage with all the clubs and organizations Gannon has to offer., will wrap up Gannon’s Welcome Week on Aug. 22.
