Gannon University, the Small Business Development CenterErie Technology Incubator, and Innovation Beehive Network are celebrating Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) Nov. 14-20 with a series of events throughout the week. 

Aspiring and established entrepreneurs are invited to take part in the local celebration of GEW 2022. Hear success stories from area startups and gain resources that can take your business from start-up to success, with event highlights like the Business Plan Boot Camp. Prizes including gift cards to locally owned restaurants and consulting time will be given away at each of the 10 events.

GEW is an international movement, organized by the Global Entrepreneurship Network and powered by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation with support from strategic partners, dedicated to making it possible for anyone, anywhere to start and scale a company.  

Each November, GEW celebrates and empowers millions of entrepreneurs in every country and community around the world. This year marks the 15th anniversary of GEW celebrations and activities, which now engages 200 countries worldwide.

A “Tasteful” Experience with Eat Your Yard, an Erie startup

Join Eat Your Yard, an Erie startup, as they host a unique and tasteful experience. At the event, Tess will showcase recipes that include ingredients regularly used in her installations. Guests will be eating from the bounties of someone’s yard! The event will also mark the company’s halfway point in its crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. 

The company, owned by Erie native Tess Frawley, provides clients with landscaping design and installation using edible plants. Eat Your Yard launched its Kickstarter campaign on October 31st. With the money raised, Tess plans on purchasing a utility trailer for equipment storage. This will also allow her to provide easily accessible gardening workshops throughout the Erie area. 

Eat Your Yard is one of three Erie-area companies that were selected to participate in ETI’s crowdfunding project supported through funding from the Ben Franklin Technology Partnership. The Ben Franklin Technology Partnership project, which ran through 2022, marks a return of crowdfunding to the Erie startup community.
