Active Minds is a national organization that empowers students to speak openly about mental health in order to educate others and encourage help-seeking. We are changing the culture on campuses and in the community by providing information, leadership opportunities, and advocacy training to the next generation.
By developing and supporting chapters of student-run mental health awareness, education, and advocacy group on campuses nationwide, the nonprofit organization works to increase students’ awareness of mental health issues, provide information and resources regarding mental health and mental illness, encourage students to seek help as soon as it is needed, and serve as a liaison between students and the mental health community.
Through campus-wide events and national programs, Active Minds aims to remove the stigma that surrounds mental health issues and create a comfortable environment for an open conversation about mental health issues on campuses nationwide.
The LGBTQ+ organization (formerly known as LIFE) is a Campus Ministry group at Gannon University supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer students, faculty, staff, alumni, and their allies.
Our name is a brief but accurate description of the purpose of our group, which is to spread the message that love is for everyone. This purpose shall be accomplished through the following missions:
- To provide a community where all students of Gannon University - especially those that do not identify as heterosexual and their allies - can feel safe, accepted, and loved.
- To educate the Gannon, Erie, and Pennsylvania communities about issues pertaining to sexual orientation, gender identity and acceptance.
- To serve the Gannon, Erie, and Pennsylvania communities in any way compatible with the purpose of this organization.
We are a safe space at Gannon University where human dignity is respected and where all students, faculty, alumni, and staff are welcomed, educated, and supported. We especially work to support those who do not identify as heterosexual.
