Global awareness starts locally.

International Education Week brings opportunities for Knights to become involved in global initiatives with an array of programs held across Gannon’s campus. These initiatives address interesting and timely topics that all students should consider as citizens of both this country and the globe. This week we also observe Hunger and Homelessness Week. 

This week's schedule of events include: 

Tuesday, November 16:
Travel Abroad with Fulbright: 4-5 pm in Waldron 219The Fulbright Program promotes intercultural exchanges between the USA and more than 140 countries! Join us at this event to learn about the experience of Gannon's current Fulbrighter: Laure Primerano from Belgium, and discover how you can join the program. There will also be free food!

Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week Partner Panel 7 pm in Waldron 219

Learn from a panel of local partner organizations about hunger and homelessness in Erie, PA and how our Gannon Family can get involved and be better neighbors. Bring paper products or personal care items to be donated among partners and monetary donations will be accepted as well!

Wednesday, November 17:
International Education Awareness Walkabout, 12-2 pm in Nash Library main floor
Stop by Nash Library by Urban Brew to learn more about our Possibilities Abroad, Office of Global Support and Student Engagement, and more, as we celebrate International Education Week! There will be free snacks, coffee, and tea. We hope to see you there!

Understanding Cultural Differences in Higher Education, 3-4:30 pm on Zoom

Faculty are invited to join a virtual panel discussion on the topic of cultural differences. A group of global students will address topics like religious celebrations and prayer times, names and pronunciation, eye contact, gender, and communication among others.

Thursday, November 18:
Global Coffee Hour hosted by the Honors Intercultural Committee and Model UN Club, 3-4:30 pm in Beyer 2nd Floor
This event will bring together intercultural leaders on campus for a casual afternoon with global students at OGSSE's weekly Global Coffee Hour. This program will focus on initiating dialogue between domestic and global students through games and other interactive activities.

Photo Contest Reception, 4:30 pm at Schuster Gallery
View the gallery selections from the Annual Photo Contest! Students submitted photos for the theme "Love: Visual Gifts, Home and Abroad." Twenty-three photos were selected out of over eighty submitted. At the reception, winners for first, second, and third place will be announced. Hors d'oevres will be served. 

Friday, November 19:
Discover Your Impact: Ethical Consumerism 2-4 pm in Waldron 1st Floor by the Piano
We invite you to discover your impact at our International Education Week - Ethical Consumerism event! Learn about fair trade, being an ethical and "green" consumer, and much more. There will also be free food, opportunities to win raffle baskets, and make your own lip balm! Take a few minutes to stop by this event and learn how you can have a positive, local, and global impact just by being more conscientious in your purchases and daily life choices. 

Saturday, November 20:
Annual Thanksgiving Dinner, 4-6 pm at First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant
Enjoy a traditional American potluck Thanksgiving Dinner with friends and Gannon family
