Join Gannon University in an observance of Juneteenth
Celebrate Freedom, June 19
President Joe Biden on Thursday signed legislation to make Juneteenth a federal holiday, enshrining June 19 as a national day to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States.
The measure took effect immediately, and because June 19 falls on a Saturday, the federal government is observing the holiday today.
We acknowledge the President's announcement and look forward to joining fully next year.
For today, we are sharing this presentation created by members of our Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion steering committee and by Gannon faculty. It provides historical context for Juneteenth.
