Men's Golf: 2021 Virtual Senior Day
Jacob Mertz, Michael Marsico, Mark Majewski, Ethan Bennett, & Emmett Caskey
Men's golf recently wrapped up one of the most historic runs in program history in 2020-21 while dealing with all the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The roster this season featured a group of five seniors that helped guide Gannon to three NCAA Tournament appearances, including winning the programs first NCAA Regional title and first appearance in the NCAA Championships as a team earlier this season.

Ethan Bennett (Stoney Creek, Ontario/Cardinal Newman Catholic):
Major: Secondary Education
Post-Graduation Plans: Returning to Gannon to pursue a Master of Public Administration while playing golf.
Highlights: After joining the Golden Knights in 2017-18, Bennett has registered 20 top 20 finishes, including five top five finishes. He helped guide Gannon to its first NCAA Championship appearance as a team this season and averaged 77.8 over 71 career rounds.
Senior Thank You: "Thank you to all my teammates who have supported me, my professors who have been so influential in my educational journey, my parents, and the parents of my teammates for supporting Gannon men's golf. I also want to thank the entire Gannon community who have made Erie my home away from home and given me the best educational experience I could ask for and the greatest four years of my life."
Emmett Caskey (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover):
Major: Applied Exercise Science
Post-Graduation Plans: Plans to attend Nova Southeastern University for a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
Highlights: After joining the Golden Knights in 2017-18, Caskey has notched five top 20 finishes and recorded a career-best eighth place finish at the Penn State Behrend Invite in 2019. Caskey averaged 81.1 over 47 career rounds and served as an alternate as Gannon made its first appearance as a team at the NCAA Championships this season.
Senior Thank You: "I'd like to thank Coach Coleman and my teammates for making this the most fun I have ever experienced on a team which is also the most competitive team I have ever been a part of."
Mark Majewski (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep):
Major: Business Administration
Post-graduate plans: Plans to pursue a masters degree at Gannon while playing golf.
Highlights: After joining the Knights in 2017-18, Majewski has logged 11 top 20 finishes, including four in the top five. He helped Gannon to its first appearance at the NCAA Championships this season and averaged 79.7 over 68 career rounds.
Senior Thank You: "I would like to thank everyone at Gannon University, but especially Coach Coleman for giving me the opportunity to play golf at the collegiate level and believing in me throughout my collegiate career. He always has been there by my side no matter what during these four years. I also want to thank my teammates, especially the other four seniors in this class. Four years ago, we arrived as strangers and now we are leaving as best friends for life. My four years at Gannon have been the best years of my life and I am truly blessed to have family, friends, coaches, and teammates that have made that happen."
Michael Marsico (Aspinwall, Pa./Fox Chapel)
Post-Graduation Plans: Plans to earn his master's degree in management and leadership from Coker University while continuing to play college golf.
Highlights: After joining the Golden Knights in 2017-18, Marsico has recorded 11 top 20 finishes, including six in the top 10. He qualified for the NCAA Championships in 2019 and was only the fifth individual to do so in Gannon history. Marsico averaged 79.2 over 68 career rounds.
Senior Thank You: "I would like to thank my parents, as well as everyone else who has supported me and has allowed me to mold into the person I am today."
Jacob Mertz (Williamsville, N.Y./St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute)
Major: Business Management and Entrepreneurship
Post-Graduation Plans: Plans to work for Goergen-Mackwirth Custom Metal Fabrication while pursuing a masters degree from Gannon and continuing his golf career for another year.
Highlights: After joining the Golden Knights in 2017-18, Mertz has contributed six top 10 finishes, including two top five finishes in 2019-20. Mertz, who was named to the PING All-Region team in 2019-20, averaged 79.6 over 49 career rounds.
Senior Thank You: "I'd like to thank my friends, family, teammates, and coach who are now some of my best friends, for pushing me to put in the hard work for my education and golf."
