Interested in a full-tuition scholarship?
Gannon University is hosting a virtual scholarship contest with up to the top 8 participants earning full-tuition scholarships! In order to be eligible, students must apply to the University by December 15, 2023. Highly qualified academic students who apply by this date and are accepted to the University will receive an invitation to participate in this exciting on-campus scholarship opportunity. All students who are invited and choose to participate will automatically have their merit award increased by $1,000.
Eligibility Requirements
- This is an invitation-only event, students must meet certain academic criteria to be eligible to compete.
- Students must be high school seniors at the time of the contest.
- Students must enroll as full-time, undergraduates at Gannon University directly upon graduation from high school.
- Students must meet the full-time, regular admission requirements of the University.
- Students must be citizens of the United States.
- Deception in the competition will result in automatic disqualification and Gannon University holds the right to re-examine your application for entrance to the University.
Additional Information
- The amount of scholarship money awarded will be based on individual performance.
- The awards are renewable annually, provided recipients maintain a 3.25 grade point average at Gannon.
- Winners will be determined by a panel of judges and announced by February 17, 2024.
Competition Details
The competition is comprised of four areas: submission of leadership/involvement resume; submission of a writing prompt; submission of a creative work and a virtual interview session.
Once a student registers for the event, and we are able to verify their qualification to compete, they will be invited to join a Google Classroom, wherein they will be able to view updates, ask questions and submit materials.
Leadership/Involvement Resume
Participants will submit a resume of leadership roles and activities and/or organizations in which they have been involved. Each resume should list each activity and include the number of years involved, and any duties or responsibilities that describes the involvement. Students will be evaluated on quality as well as quantity of their leadership experiences and sustained effort over time and commitment to community service will be rewarded. Presentation of resume will be taken into consideration, as well as composition (free of typos, etc.)
**Submission of resumes will be accepted between January 2 and February 2, 2024.
Writing Component
Participants will submit a personal statement on the topic Choose one person/thing/book/life event that has influenced your life and describe that influence. These submissions will be scored on content, organization, grammar, critical thinking, communication style, and original idea. Finally, the submission should be no more than 1 page in length.
**Submission of essays will be accepted between January 2 and February 2, 2024.
Creative piece
Participants are asked to prepare and submit an original creation that addresses one of the following prompts:
1. Your personal goals and passion for your intended field and how Gannon will help you achieve that goal.
2. Who you are and what you will bring to the Gannon community?
This piece is meant to be a creative interpretation. Submissions may include, but are not limited to a photo, a drawing, poem, collage, etc. Students may also submit a video (2 minutes or less) as their piece. Be sure to include a brief explanation with your submission to explain which prompt you are addressing and how the submission demonstrates your answer. Submissions will be judged on creativity, originality, relevance, presentation and explanation.
**Submission of creation will be accepted between January 2 and February 2, 2024.

Virtual Interviews
All participating students must complete a virtual interview with a panel of judges on Saturday, February 10, 2024. All participants will receive an assigned time and log in information closer to the date of the interviews. In order to prepare for your interview, just be you. Your panel of judges wants to get to know you; therefore, the answers to the questions can be found within yourself.
