Supervisor of Curriculum

  • Program Overview

Students pursuing the Master of Education in Curriculum may also pursue a district-wide Supervisor of Curriculum Certification. The Supervisor of Curriculum is a district-wide specialist who works across the total grade organization and is responsible for performing the following duties:

    • Supervising instruction and evaluating staff as designated by the school superintendent
    • Designing and developing curriculum, learning materials and innovative educational programs
    • Conducting experimental instructional programs
    • Directing and conducting basic or applied educational research

The Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction is a natural pathway to district-wide Supervisor of Curriculum and Certification. The foundation in curriculum, instruction, and assessment serves to strengthen the candidate’s ability to be successful developing curriculum and instructional programs, supporting teachers, and supervising programs. Gannon University’s M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction is aligned with the National Board Professional Teacher Certification Standards. Gannon is one of four Centers of Teaching Excellence in Pennsylvania that supports teachers who are preparing for National Board Certification.

Those who already have a Master of Education degree and teaching experience may complete the certification program. The Program of Study will be dependent upon a transcript review
