  • Doctoral Commencement

We will celebrate the many achievements of our graduating students at Commencement on Friday, May 8, 2020 at 7 p.m. in the Hammermill Center.  The Commencement ceremony is the highlight of the semester for the University community, and we are looking forward to celebrating this wonderful event with you.  Please review carefully the information on this website in preparation for Commencement weekend and retain all information for reference as the event draws closer.

It is a Gannon tradition that we personalize the Commencement ceremony by announcing the name of each graduate. Although this tradition takes time, the special recognition of each graduate symbolizes Gannon's commitment as a student-centered university. It communicates value and affection for each individual and family. Accordingly, graduates and members of the audience are asked to remain in their seats throughout the ceremony so that they do not interfere with the special moments of others.

Professional photographers will be present to photograph each graduate. A video will also be available for purchase (order form included with invitation). To avoid congestion and to maintain decorum during the ceremony, friends and family members are asked to refrain from approaching the stage to take pictures. After the recessional, when all graduates have left the commencement area, graduates and their families are welcome to return to the stage to take pictures.  It should be noted that the Gannon monument alongside Old Main has become a very popular site for commencement pictures.

Do you have a family member or guest that will need accessible seating accommodations? Please call the Registrar's office at (814) 871-7610.

We look forward to celebrating Commencement with you. The entire Gannon community is grateful and proud that you have allowed us to be a part of your lives, and we wish you God's blessing for the future.
