I was ordained a Roman Catholic priest for the Diocese of Erie at Saint Peter's Cathedral by Bishop Donald Trautman on June 7, 2002. After three years of wide and varied ministry at Notre Dame Church in Hermitage, Pennsylvania, I was assigned to continue my advanced theological studies at Saint Mary's Seminary & University in Baltimore, Maryland. After completing my Licence in Sacred Theology (STL) in 2007, the bishop assigned me to teach and reside at Gannon University.
As an instructor in the Department of Theology, I have the privilege of interacting with our students in the formal classroom setting. As a resident-priest living on campus, I also have the unique opportunity to be immersed in the daily life of our student community in a far more casual way. Outside of the classroom, I can often be spotted almost everywhere on campus, including our sporting events, fraternity/sorority functions, and faith-sharing gatherings organized by students.
I am an avid reader and traveler. I enjoy any type of athletic competition and am a diehard fan of the New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins, and The Ohio State Buckeyes. I am frequently seen around campus with Drake, my 3-year old black lab (and "unofficial" mascot of Gannon), and I also a keeper of saltwater fish aquariums. I am proud of my German heritage and celebrate it, in part, through my hobbies of cooking and homebrewing. I enjoy most all music (except country and rap), with the Dave Matthews Band topping my charts. I was addicted to House, and now find The Big Bang Theory one of the most entertaining commedy series on television.
Of all of these joys and pleasures of life, my first and true love is my priesthood. I love being a priest and strive everyday to bring others to Christ.
