    Program Director, Physician Assistant Program


    Gannon University, a Catholic university, has a collaborative and dynamic faculty that prepares motivated students intellectually, professionally, and personally for leadership roles in their careers, society, and church. This full-time, 12-month tenure track program director position for the Physician Assistant Program (PA) in Erie, PA begins July 1, 2023 or upon hire. Gannon University faculty work collaboratively with colleagues, deliver instruction, advise students, engage in scholarship, and participate in service. The Physician Assistant Program at the Erie, Pennsylvania campus has a longstanding history of educating outstanding physician assistants who impact patients’ lives every day. Established more than 40 years ago, the Physician Assistant Program is committed to health, education, advocacy, and leadership. The Program Director is responsible for the provision of education to students, administration of the program, including adherence to ARC-PA Standards of Accreditation, policies and procedures, and the continued evolution of the Physician Assistant Program. The successful candidate will provide effective leadership including, but not limited to, responsibility for communication, ongoing program planning and assessment, and fiscal management, The individual will participate in curriculum development and provide didactic and laboratory instruction. Release time will be available to support the administrative functions of the position. Candidates must be able to support the University’s inclusive Mission, its Catholic identity and its liberal arts and professional education traditions.

    Required Qualifications: To be considered, candidates must provide evidence of a minimum of three years of full-time higher education experience, including demonstrated evidence of effectiveness in teaching and advising, including curriculum development, and a commitment to service. Candidates must possess strong communication, leadership, problem solving, and organization skills. The successful candidate must have a master’s degree and must be a graduate of an accredited physician Assistant program. Candidates must hold current or emeritus National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification and hold or be eligible for Pennsylvania licensure.

    Chair, Doctor of Physical Therapy Program

    Responsibilities: Gannon University is committed to excellence in student-centered learning with an emphasis on student learning outcomes. The program works collaboratively, with an emphasis on professional education integrated with liberal-learning student outcomes, advisement of students, scholarly engagement within the Boyer Model of Scholarship, and interactive and collaborative teaching and learning styles. The University’s excellent faculty also advises students and engages in creative scholarly activities and in professional, University, and community service activities and partnerships. Candidates must be able to support and promote the University’s inclusive Mission, its Catholic identity, and its liberal arts and professional education traditions.

    The DPT Program in Erie, PA is a full-time 33-month program, which has a 30-year history of preparing students for a successful career in the PT profession. The curriculum is provided in a problem-oriented, system-based competency format, emphasizing evidence-based practice, generalist clinical skills, and community health. The DPT Program has available advanced technology for motion and gait analysis, balance rehabilitation, and diagnostic imaging. Interprofessional collaboration is in place with other health professions in the college, including OT, AT, SLP and biomedical engineering. Student-managed pro bono clinics allow collaboration with clinical partners and the community to provide clinical and wellness services to student-athletes, children, and adults with mobility needs. Students and faculty participate in service projects locally and in Mexico.

    The program has had continuous CAPTE accreditation since its founding in 1992 and includes a cohesive and stable faculty of ten full-time physical therapists and a supportive clinical community that allows a positive environment for teaching, scholarship, and service responsibilities.

    Requirements: To be considered, candidates must provide evidence of a minimum of 6 years of full-time higher education experience, including effective leadership within a PT or PTA program, with faculty and students. Successful teaching methods and productive scholarship as a core faculty member in a DPT program for at least three full-time years are required. The successful candidate must have an academic doctoral degree; a minimum rank of associate or clinical (teaching) associate professor and be eligible for Pennsylvania PT licensure.
