Scott M. Krall '84

Scott Krall graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in earth science. While a Gannon student, Krall was a member of Tau Kap pa Epsilon fraternity, Interfraternity Council and intramural sports. Following his graduation, he attended West Virginia University (WVU) to take courses toward a master’s degree in environmental geology.

After WVU, Krall accepted a position as a hydrogeologist with NUS Corporation, a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency subcontractor. He was employed by the company until 1989, at which point he began work as a hydrogeologist and environmental scientist with Alcoa Separations Technology Inc.

Krall began his employment with the H.J. Heinz Company in 1998 as a Manufacturing Compliance Coordinator. He served in a variety of capacities in the following years, eventually becoming the Global Associate Director of Sustainability and Latin America Operational Risk Management. Krall provided leadership support in all areas of operational risk management for 78 facilities across 23 countries, addressing issues related to environmental management, employee health and safety, business continuity, facility security and asset conservation management.

Krall’ s key accomplishments at Heinz included advancing the company’s Carbon Disclosure Project rating from 17 in 2007 to 91 in 2008. He established a process to address global sustainability goals, and received numerous state awards for waste reduction and stewardship programs related to environmental management. In 2012, he was invited to the White House to participate on the Council on Environmental Quality Roundtable – Executing a Sustainable Supply Chain Community of Practice. In June 2013, Krall began working with the Bayer Corporation, where he accepted the title of U.S. Head of Corporate Governance - Environmental and Remediation. He is currently employed with Bayer and now serves as the U.S. Head of Corporate Environmental, Sustainability and Remediation, a position he has held since December 2015.

Throughout the years, he has maintained strong ties with Gannon University. Krall is a member of the Board of Trustees at Gannon University and has previously served as the President of the National Alumni Board. In 2017, Krall received Gannon University’s Morosky College of Health Professions and Sciences Distinguished Alumni Award.

Krall currently resides in Pittsburgh with his wife, Shelley and their two sons, Tim and Drew.
