Students who have a passion for the creative human spirit will find their possibilities here. With multiple performance venues including the area's only black box theater, you can develop your own skills in voice, movement, stage combat, intimacy for the stage, mask, ensemble and improvisation to prepare for a career as a professional artist or build a foundation for further graduate study.
Gain real-world knowledge through key courses including:
Production and Performance: A laboratory course focused on the rehearsal and performance process where students assume roles on production, crew and cast, culminating in public performance and evaluation by students and director.
Improvisation: A laboratory course stressing improvisation skills, i.e. focus, teamwork, mime, character development, story development and more while expanding practical skills including creative problem solving, spontaneity, interpreting non-verbal communication, respectful conflict resolution and group dynamics.
Fundamentals of Acting: Explore the craft of acting. Develop skills in creativity, improvisation, concentration and text analysis.
Gannon's performance for media and stage program provides an array of exciting opportunities where you can:
“I have had plenty of chances to perform onstage and learn from friends and professors how to be a better performer. I have also had the chance to study abroad in Limerick, Ireland at Mary Immaculate College. I have since brought that new knowledge home and have applied it here, as well.”
