Gannon University to Host Debate for Erie County Sheriff
Posted: October 24, 2013
On Monday Oct. 28, Gannon University's Criminal Justice
Club will host a debate between the two candidates vying for the
County Sheriff seat: John Loomis and Eddie Whiteman. The debate
will take place at 6 p.m. in the Yehl Ballroom of the Waldron
Campus Center, 124 W. Seventh St.
Eddie Whiteman is a local businessman who has owned and operated
Eddie's Collectables, a towing business, for the last 25 years.
John Loomis has spent 34 years with the county, 12 years at the
Department of Corrections and 22 in the Sheriff's Department.
Few non-prosecutorial law enforcement positions are determined
by election. This debate will be a unique opportunity to hear from
both candidates regarding their goals and expectations, as well as
why each believes he is the stronger candidate.
The event is free and open to the public.
