"The Melancholy Play: A Contemporary Farce" at Gannon’s Schuster Theatre Opens This Week
Posted: February 17, 2014Gannon University's Schuster Theatre brings life to Sarah Ruhl's
The Melancholy Play. Set in contemporary Illinois, Melancholy Play
is both a wildly fun and deeply moving look at the mysteries of
human happiness and sadness, and the currents of emotion that prove
powerful enough to leave us entirely transformed.
Gannon alumna Alaina Manchester, current manager of the Young
People's Chorus of Erie, is the play director. Graduate of the
class of 2007, Manchester was a theatre and communication arts
major, where she was heavily involved with the Schuster Theatre.
She also served as president of Alpha Psi Omega, as well as another
term as vice president following.
The Schuster Theatre assures this absurdist, commedia styled and
high-energy production will thrill the audience.
Performances are Feb. 13-15 and Feb. 20-22 at 8 p.m., and Feb.
23 at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $5, or free with a current Gannon ID.
