A Big Thank-You for a Big Job
Posted: January 15, 2014
When an electrical explosion filled the Hammermill Center with
smoke at 10:43 p.m. on December 23, no one knew the extent of the
damage or what it would take to restore the beloved and historic
site.
What it took was the courage of first responders and the almost
superhuman work of dozens of contractors, subcontractors,
volunteers and Gannon staffers, working almost around the clock to
complete the work by the time classes resumed this past Monday.
Incredibly, the work was completed, and as a way of showing the
gratitude of the University to everyone involved, a short ceremony
will take place during the halftime of the man's basketball contest
with Indiana University of PA on Wednesday, January 15.
Gannon President Keith Taylor, Ph.D. and Vice President Linda
Wagner will honor the first responders from the Erie Fire and
Police Departments and others as a way of saying thank you for a
job well and quickly done.
