Lucy C. Parker-Barnes

Dr. Lucy Parker-Barnes is a counselor and counselor educator with a clinical theoretical orientation grounded in Existential Humanist Counseling and a supervision and teaching theoretical orientation grounded in the Reflective Developmental Model. Dr. Parker-Barnes’s clinical expertise includes crisis counseling, counseling those with developmental delays, counseling clients with presenting communication and conflict resolution issues, clients with anxiety and depression issues, clients with substance abuse issues, and working with legally mandated client issues. Dr. Parker-Barnes is a member of the Pennsylvania Counseling Association, and was previously also an active member of the Illinois Counseling and Illinois Mental Health Counseling Associations. She is currently a national member of the Association for Creativity in Counseling, the Humanistic Counseling Association, the American Counseling Association, the Association for Child and Adolescent Counseling, and the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision. Upon completion of her PhD in 2018, Dr. Parker-Barnes had written at least four book chapters, created various sought after career counseling interventions, taught over 20 courses, supervised over 30 new counselors, and was recognized for earning the Outstanding Service Award at the Illinois Association for Adult, Development, and Aging Conference in 2017. Dr. Parker-Barnes currently facilitates research on classism in counseling and would love for any interested readers to join her hybrid, student-centered research team. In her free time, Dr. Parker-Barnes enjoys being with her family (i.e. including her amazing daughter), watching television, being at coffee shops, and playing basketball or exercising.
