Nate DeSimone ’04M is no stranger to athletics.
While growing up in Youngsville, DeSimone participated in four sports
while attending high school – football (quarterback, middle linebacker),
wrestling and track and field (mainly javelin and discus, but also pole
vault, long jump and occasionally, the 1600-meter relay).
Youngsville High School did not have a baseball team but had a
cooperative agreement with Tidioute High School, where DeSimone played.
He was a pitcher and played shortstop in high school.
He also was a pitcher on the baseball team while attending college at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
DeSimone, 42, is now a sixth-grade math teacher at Union City Area Middle-High School,
and he brought his love of sports to the district as a coach. He has
coached track and field, baseball and wrestling for the Bears.
