Dr. Mark L Nelson, Vice President of Business and Science Development at Frontier Scientific and subsidiaries, and a former Gannon Board of Trustees Member, was first inventor of Nuzyra and Seysara, two antibiotic (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_L._Nelson, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omadacycline) compounds recently approved in October by the FDA for severe skin infections and community acquired pneumonia. Dr. Nelson is an internationally known expert in the field of antibiotic organic synthesis, and discovered the compounds first at Tufts University School of Medicine and as Senior Director of Chemistry at Paratek Pharmaceuticals, Boston. Dr. Nelson currently oversees scientific research funded by the Department of Defense, as Chief Science Officer for TerraNova Therapeutics, and in addition to his role as an executive of Business and Science Development at Frontier Scientific and subsidiaries. He currently resides in Park City, Utah, with his wife also from Erie, Janice Badger Nelson, and their daughter Catherine.
