  • Clinical Education

Clinical education is an essential element of Gannon University Ruskin's DPT curriculum.  Clinical education provides students the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills gained through coursework to patient care under direct supervision of a licensed physical therapist.

Students participate in four full-time clinical education experiences that are strategically placed to enhance and build upon completed coursework.

    • Duration: 12 weeks

    Clinical Experience 2

    • Focus: Neurological Rehabilitation
    • Duration: 10 weeks

    Clinical Experience 3

    • Focus: Multisystem/High Acuity

    Clinical Experience 4

    • When: Following completion of 8 semesters of coursework and prior clinical experiences
    • Focus: Elective Practice Setting/Population
    • Duration: 10 weeks

Through the development of relationships with clinical partners, Gannon University Ruskin DPT program has cultivated and maintained contracts with over 250 facilities both in Florida and throughout the United States.

Students will also be provided detailed information regarding available sites, including past student feedback. Throughout each clinical experience, students will also participate in online coursework and discussion with academic faculty, allowing the student to stay connected with Gannon University Ruskin DPT faculty while working with the on-site clinical instructor.  This will help the student integrate their previously gained knowledge and skills while further refining and adding to their skills in examination, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis, intervention, outcome and communication with various populations while in the clinic.
