CHESS Humanities & Leadership Conference
March 25, 2023
Gannon University
Gannon University proudly invites students, practitioners, and
faculty members to participate in our seventh annual
cross-disciplinary humanities conference scheduled
for March 25, 2023. The CHESS
Humanities & Leadership Conference is a peer
reviewed conference that highlights scholarly research within the
humanities, social sciences, and leadership disciplines. The
conference offers a rich opportunity to present new or emerging
research, and connect with a broad scope of students, scholars and
practitioners. Undergraduate and graduate students are highly
encouraged to submit a proposal for this engaging one day
conference.
History of the Conference
Gannon University’s English Department, housed within the College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (CHESS), initiated the first CHESS Humanities Conference in Spring 2015 to give students studying within the Humanities an opportunity to present their research. The conference grew to include a multitude of presenters across the disciplines, and has emerged as a small yet impactful scholarly collective. Thus, a one-day event to promote undergraduate and graduate scholarly work has evolved to include faculty, practitioners, and community members. In 2016, the conference instituted a peer-review process, and in 2019, published its first conference proceedings.
In 2020, the conference was directed by Gannon University’s Organizational Learning & Leadership program, and the name of the conference changed to the CHESS Humanities & Leadership Conference. The conference remains a regional peer-reviewed opportunity for students and faculty to share and develop their scholarship. It also serves as a one-day point of connection for all learners who value the sharing and discourse of ideas.
