GANNON
ADVANCES AFTER WIN AT
CWPA WESTERN CHAMPIONSHIPS
GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Gannon University
women’s water polo team advanced in the Collegiate Water Polo
Association (CWPA) Western Division Championships, hosted by Grove City
College, Friday evening after defeating Grove City 11-8 at.
The Lady Knights move on to face the University of Michigan at 11:30
a.m. Saturday, April 19.
The teams closed the first eight minutes all square at three apiece;
however, Gannon held the Grove City Wolverines to just one goal in the
second quarter, while posting three.
Both squads produced three goals in the third quarter. The Lady Knights
held Grove City off in the final frame. They allowed just one goal and
scored two.
Niki Hoffa (Spinking Springs,
Pa./Governor Mifflin) played all 32 minutes in net for the Lady
Knights. Hoffa made nine blocks.
Val Adams (Erie, Pa./McDowell),
Katelyn Hansen (Erie, Pa./McDowell),
Kendra Plackemeier (Bonsall,
Calif./Fallbrook), and Rachel
Rzymek (Erie, Pa./McDowell) each scored two Gannon goals.
The Lady Knights need to finish in the top two to qualify for the CWPA
Eastern Championships, beginning Saturday, April 26 at the University
of Michigan.
