WOMEN’S WATER POLO
SPLITS HOME MATCHES
ERIE, Pa. – The Gannon University women’s
water polo team played a pair of home Collegiate Water Polo Association
(CWPA) matches Saturday, managing to defeat Penn State Behrend 18-8
(4-1, 5-2, 7-2, 2-3) but losing the nightcap to rival Mercyhurst 15-8
(3-2, 4-2, 5-1, 3-3).
Annie Greenhill (Brea,
Calif./Fallbrook) led Gannon scoring in both games. The
sophomore netted five goals against each opponent. Greenhill is fifth
all-time at Gannon with 104 career goals. She needs four more to tie
for fourth and six to tie for third.
Freshman Stephanie Komorek (Erie,
Pa./McDowell) made seven saves in net against Behrend for the
Lady Knights.
Komorek started against Mercyhurst, making three saves, but was
replaced by Niki Hoffa (Sinking
Springs, Pa./Governor Mifflin) in the third quarter. Hoffa make
four saves.
Gannon travels to Grove City on Tuesday, April 8 for an 8 p.m. CWPA
match.
