GANNON FALLS 8-5 TO
UNIVERSITY OF LA VERNE (CALIF.)
 
LA VERNE, Calif. – The Gannon University women’s water polo team dropped a California road trip match 8-5 to the University of La Verne (1-1) Wednesday afternoon.
   
The Leopards held a 2-1 advantage entering the second quarter and never let go of the lead.
   
The Lady Knights (2-5) put one ball into the net but allowed three by the second frame’s end.
   
Gannon held La Verne scoreless in the third quarter, while adding one more goal to their tally.
  
The Lady Knights put two more points on the board in the final frame, but it was not enough to overtake the lead. La Verne closed the fourth quarter with three more goals.
   
Annie Greenhill (Brea, Calif./Brea Olinda) and Caitlin Andrews (Tustin, Calif./Tustin), each posted two goals for Gannon. Rachel Rzymek (Erie, Pa./McDowell) scored one goal.
   
Goalkeeper Stephanie Komorek (Erie, Pa./McDowell) made seven saves for the Lady Knights.
   
Gannon’s next California opponent is Pomona College (0-2). The Lady Knights square off against the Sagehens at 10 p.m. Eastern time on Wednesday, March 5. Results will be reported the following day.01
