GANNON WATER POLO AMONG OTHERS
RECEIVING VOTES IN LATEST CWPA POLL
ERIE, Pa. - The
Gannon women’s water polo team has dropped out of the latest CWPA Top 10
poll released Wednesday afternoon. The Lady Knights are now among others
receiving votes in the latest poll.
The University of Michigan remained No. 1 for the fifth consecutive week,
being a unanimous choice for the second straight week with 100 points. Indiana
University (93), Hartwick College (92), Bucknell University (83), and Princeton
University (82) round out the top five.
The University of Maryland (75), Brown University (69), Harvard (64), Mercyhurst
College (62), and George Washington (44) complete the top 10. Gannon received
11 points.
Gannon moved its record at 3-8 with a split last Sunday at the Carneval Athletic
Pavilion, dropped a 19-7 decision to top-ranked Michigan and posting an 11-6
victory over Slippery Rock. The win against the Rock snapped a six-match
losing streak which included five losses against some of the West Coast’s
best teams during Gannon’s recent Spring Trip to California.
Annie Greenhill (Brea, Calif./Brea Olinda) leads the offensive unit
with 27 goals and five assists. Kendra Plackemeier (Bonsall, Calif./Fallbrook)
and Val Adams (Erie, Pa./McDowell) have netted nine goals each.
Stephanie Komorek (Erie, Pa./McDowell) has started every match in
goal, producing an 11.6 goals against average and .363 save percentage.
Gannon returns to action Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15 at the Utica
Invitational.
