INCREASES 2008
VOLLEYBALL RECRUITING CLASS TO SIX
ERIE, Pa. - Gannon head volleyball
coach Matt Darling has announced the addition of Chelsea Barrett (Coloma,
Mich./Coloma) to the volleyball program Thursday afternoon, increasing
the 2008 recruiting class to six.
Barrett brings an impressive volleyball resume to Gannon. The 5’9” outside
hitter was a three-time all-conference and two-time all-region selection,
as well as being named to the All-State academic team as a senior. She led
Coloma High School to three conference titles, two district titles, and one
regional title during her high school career.
The Coloma, Mich., native was named to the South Bend Tribune Sportsfest
Michigan All-Star team. She was also named Coloma’s best defensive player
as a senior and received the Coach’s Award twice.
Barrett was a two-sport athlete at Coloma, participating in volleyball and
track and field. She earned all-conference second-team accolades in the high
jump as a senior and the pole vault as a junior and senior. She also received
the “Green Award” as a senior member of the track and field team.
Academically, Barrett has been just as impressive while graduating as Coloma’s
Valedictorian. She was a four-time selection to the All-Conference Academic
team and was a Herald Palladium Academic All-Star nominee.
Barrett joins five other student-athletes who had already committed to the

Gannon begins its first season as a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference (PSAC) in 2008-09.
