SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
ERIE, PA - Gannon’s Sonya
Pyle (Bradford, Pa./Bradford Central Christian) was named Eastern College
Athletic Conference (ECAC) Swimmer of the Week on Wednesday for her performance
during two victories last week.
Pyle led Gannon to two routs
of Edinboro (159-43) and Buffalo State (130-57) last week. The senior was
a triple-winner against Edinboro and double-winner against Buffalo State.
She won individual titles against Edinboro in the 200 freestyle (2:02.14)
and 100 freestyle (55.21). In addition, she was also part of the winning
200 medley relay team (1:55.64) against the Boro.
Pyle won the 50 freestyle
(26.19) and was part of the winning 200 freestyle relay team (1:45.87)
against Buffalo State. She swam her leg of the 200 freestyle relay against
Buffalo State in 25.54.
Gannon (6-2) has won three
consecutive swim meets. The Lady Knights return to action Saturday, January
24 against West Virginia Wesleyan at Gannon’s Carneval Athletic Pavilion.
The meet is scheduled for 1 p.m.
