COLUMBIA, Mo. - Gannon’s Megan Beresford (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) will not be participating in the NCAA Division II National Diving Championships this week at the Mizzou Aquatic Center in Columbia, Missouri.

Beresford qualified to compete in the NCAA Division II Diving Pre-Quals Tuesday afternoon, but did not finish high enough to move onto the national finals. The top 16 in both the one-meter and three-meter diving events move into the national finals.

The Greensburg, Pa., native finished 24th out of 31 divers in the three-meter event with 172.90 points, falling 19.5 points shy of the top 16. She placed 28th out of 32 divers in the one-meter event with 135.50 points, falling 25.3 points shy of the top 16.

Paul Musille (Canton, Ohio/Glen Oak) will hit the pool Wednesday, March 12 for the first of his three events at the NCAA Division II Swimming Championships. The senior will participate in the 50-yard freestyle on Wednesday, the 200-yard freestyle on Thursday, and the 100-yard freestyle on Saturday. He holds three individual school records and was part of four relay teams that produced school records. Musille is the school’s record holder in the 50-freestyle (20.88), the 100-freestyle (45.85), and the 200-freestyle (1:42.30). He was also a member of relay teams that holds school records in the 200-yard freestyle (1:23.88), 400-yard freestyle (3:06.20), the 200-yard medley (1:33.70), and the 400-yard medley (3:29.55).

Musille is only the second Gannon male swimmer to ever qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championships and the first since Brett Lindenmuth earned all-america honors in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard breaststroke at the 1997 national championships
