GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Gannon softball team snapped a five-game losing streak Wednesday afternoon with a non-conference doubleheader sweep at Seton Hill. The Lady Knights posted the sweep by scores of 6-0 and 6-3.

In the opener, Gannon scored the only run it would need in the top of the first inning. Jaclyn Corroto (Boardman, Ohio/Boardman) and Holli Michaels (Tacoma, Wash./Curtis) led of the game with back-to-back singles. After a wild pitch moved the runners up, Corroto scored on a Kara Hensley (Waterville, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) RBI single.

Gannon added three more runs in the fourth inning on three walks, two hits, and an error. The Lady Knights posted two insurance runs in the sixth on a two-run double by Hensley.

Corroto, Michaels, Hensley, and Hannah Koenig (Erie, Pa./McDowell) had two hits each. Hensley recorded three of Gannon’s five RBI.

Lauren Soldner (Sylvania, Ohio/Sylvania Southview)

Gannon fell behind 1-0 in the first inning of the nightcap, but exploded with four runs in the third inning. Corroto and Carol Kienzl (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) had RBI singles while two more runs scored on errors.

The Lady Knights added a fifth run on a Corroto double in the fourth inning and one more via an error in the fifth inning.

Seton Hill tried to rally with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but it wasn’t nearly enough as Gannon completed the sweep with a 6-3 victory.

Michaels went 3-for-4 with one run scored in the second game, finishing the doubleheader with five hits in seven at-bats. Corroto and Kienzl added two hits each.
