LADY KNIGHTS MAKE FINAL PUSH FOR GLIAC TOURNAMENT
ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon
softball team concludes the regular season this weekend with a pair of Great
Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) doubleheaders at Gannon
University Field.
The Lady Knights open the weekend Friday, April 25 against Saginaw Valley
State. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. The regular season concludes Saturday,
April 26 with Senior Day against Northwood. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
Live gameday statistics will be available for every game. The first game
of both doubleheaders will be available at http://www.gannon.edu/sports/women/softball/lstats/xlive.htm.
The second game will be available at http://www.gannon.edu/sports/women/softball/lstats2/xlive.htm.
There are numerous games throughout the league this weekend that will determine
seedings for the GLIAC Tournament, scheduled for May 2-4 at Emerson Park
in Midland, Mich. Wayne State, Ferris State, Saginaw Valley State, and Ashland
have already clinched spots in the eight-team tournament.
Gannon (26-18) can still finish as high as fifth place or miss the cut with
four games left. Mercyhurst and Gannon enter the weekend tied for seventh
place with identical 6-10 GLIAC marks. Findlay and Hillsdale both sit one
game back in the win column.
Saginaw Valley State brings a 27-13 overall record and 11-5 conference mark
into Friday’s contests. The Cardinals have been listed in the National Fastpitch
Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Top 25 several times this season and
sit in third place among GLIAC teams.
Northwood is 19-22 overall and 6-8 in the GLIAC after splitting a non-conference
doubleheader against Tiffin Wednesday afternoon at home.
