GANNON SOFTBALL TEAM HOSTS PAIR
OF GLIAC TWINBILLS THIS WEEKEND

ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon softball team opens the home portion of its Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) schedule this weekend at Gannon University Field. The Lady Knights open the weekend Saturday, April 5 against Ashland and conclude the set Sunday, April 6 against Findlay. Both doubleheaders are scheduled for 1 p.m.

Live gameday statistics for game one both days will be available at http://www.gannon.edu/sports/women/softball/lstats/xlive.htm. Game two statistics will be available at http://www.gannon.edu/sports/women/softball/lstats2/xlive.htm.

Gannon brings an 18-12 overall record and 0-4 GLIAC mark into the weekend. The Lady Knights opened conference play last weekend by dropping a pair of games at both Ferris State and Grand Valley State. The squad rebounded with a non-conference sweep at Seton Hill last Wednesday.

Three Lady Knights are hitting .300 or better, led by Holli Michaels (Tacoma, Wash./Curtis). The junior catcher is hitting .400 with 17 runs and six stolen bases. Carol Kienzl (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) and Kara Hensley (Waterville, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) are hitting .354 and .322, respectively.

Lauren Soldner (Sylvania, Ohio/Sylvania Southview) has been Gannon’s top pitcher, posting an 8-4 record and 1.43 ERA.

Ashland owns a 10-10 overall record and 1-3 GLIAC mark. The Eagles snapped a four-game losing streak with a 7-5 victory over Northern Kentucky in the second game of a doubleheader last Wednesday.

Findlay has struggled during the early portion of the 2008 schedule. The Oilers are 3-16 overall and 1-3 in conference action. The squad opened the season with an 0-10 record at the Rebel Games and has dropped six of its last seven contests
