GANNON'S PIAZZA NAMED TO ALL-GLIAC
WOMEN'S SOCCER FIRST TEAM

ROWAN SELECTED TO THE SECOND TEAM

ERIE, Pa. - Gannon’s Laura Piazza (Brampton, Ontario/Cardinal Leger S.S.) and Courtney Rowan (Mentor, Ohio/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) have been named to the 2007 All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women’s Soccer teams released Friday afternoon in conjunction with the league’s Final Four held at Grand Valley State. Piazza was named to the first team while Rowan landed a spot on the second team for the third consecutive season.

Piazza, an all-region second-team selection last season, has developed into one of the region’s best defenders during her two collegiate seasons. The sophomore has started every match (37) during her two-year career. She led a Gannon defense this season that posted a top-five finish among GLIAC teams in goals allowed (23) and goals against average (1.31).

Rowan has been selected to the All-GLIAC second team during every season at Gannon. The junior midfielder led Gannon in goals (7) and points (16). She scored the game-winning goal during a 1-0 victory against West Virginia Wesleyan and added a hat trick during a 4-0 victory against Daemen. The Lady Knights were 5-0-1 in matches when she recorded a point. The Mentor, Ohio native ranks third all-time at Gannon in assists (14), ninth in points (36), and 12th in goals (11).
