Assistant Coach Mindy Richmond
Richmond begins her second
season as an assistant on the Gannon coaching staff, but she is no stranger
to the program. The former attacker was a two-time All-American and four-year
letterwinner (2002-05) for the Lady Knights. In addition to being Gannon’s
all-time scoring leader with 219 goals, she ranks fifth in career points (242)
and 12th in career assists (23).
The Newark, N.Y., native produced one of the best seasons in NCAA Division
II history during the 2005 campaign. She tallied a school-record and NCAA-leading
88 goals, narrowly missing the NCAA Division II single-season record at
the time by five goals. It’s a record Richmond probably would have broken,
but a match against St. Andrews was cancelled early in the season and was
not rescheduled. She owns two of Gannon’s top-five single-season goal totals,
netting 63 (fourth-highest) in 2004.
Richmond is not only considered one of Gannon’s all-time greats, but one
of the best to ever play in NCAA Division II. Only five Division II players
have scored more than 219 career goals. She scored a career-high nine goals
against St. Vincent (Pa.) in 2004, the sixth-highest single-game total ever
in Division II.
