GANNON LACROSSE TEAM RANKED
SEVENTH IN LATEST TOP 10 POLL
ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon
women’s lacrosse team dropped two spots and is ranked seventh in the latest
Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II
Top 10 poll released Tuesday afternoon.
C.W. Post (9-0), the reigning national champion, remained No. 1 for the eighth
consecutive week. The Pioneers took seven of the 10 first-place votes and
earned 96 points. Limestone (S.C.) (10-1) is tabbed second with the remaining
three first-place votes and 91 points.
Adelphi (N.Y.) (7-0), West Chester (7-1), and Lock Haven (7-2) complete the
top five.
Stonehill (Mass.) (7-1), Gannon (6-2), Mercyhurst (8-2), New Haven (8-2),
and Southern New Hampshire (6-5) round out the top 10.
Gannon dropped a 15-8 decision at fifth-ranked Lock Haven in its only action
last week. The Lady Knights fell behind 7-0 and could never recover. The
loss snapped a three-match winning streak.
Colleen Dixon (Lafayette, N.Y./Lafayette) leads the Gannon offense
with 32 goals, four assists, and 36 points. Taryn Millerd (Shortsville,
N.Y./Midlakes) is second with 24 goals, 10 assists, and 34 points. Mary
Eshenour (Waterloo, N.Y./Waterloo) and Kayla Nelson (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego)
have 33 points each.
Shauna Hutchinson (Islip Terrace, N.Y./East Islip) has started six
of Gannon’s eight matches in goal, posting an 8.31 goals against average
and .583 save percentage.
Gannon ends a nine-day lay-off Wednesday, April 9 at fourth-ranked West Chester.
Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
