JUMPS INTO NATIONAL TOP FIVE
ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon
women’s lacrosse team jumped two spots and is ranked fifth in the latest
Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II
Top 10 poll released Tuesday afternoon. The poll considered only matches
played through Sunday, March 30 and did not reflect last night’s 15-8 loss
to Lock Haven.
C.W. Post (7-0), the reigning national champion, remained No. 1 for the seventh
consecutive week. The Pioneers took seven of the 10 first-place votes and
earned 96 points. Limestone (S.C.) (8-1) is tabbed second with the remaining
three first-place votes and 91 points.
West Chester (5-1), Adelphi (N.Y.) (5-0), and Gannon (6-1) complete the top
five.
Stonehill (Mass.) (5-1), Lock Haven (4-2), Mercyhurst (8-2), New Haven (7-1),
and Southern New Hampshire (5-4) round out the top 10.
Gannon was perfect in two matches last week, posting home victories against
Division I Niagara (16-6) and Regis (Colo.) (20-8). The Lady Knights’ three-match
win streak was snapped last night with a 15-8 loss at Lock Haven.
Colleen Dixon (Lafayette, N.Y./Lafayette) leads the Gannon offense
with 32 goals, four assists, and 36 points. Taryn Millerd (Shortsville,
N.Y./Midlakes) is second with 24 goals, 10 assists, and 34 points. Mary
Eshenour (Waterloo, N.Y./Waterloo) and Kayla Nelson (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego)
have 33 points each.

of Gannon’s eight matches in goal, posting an 8.31 goals against average
