LATEST IWLCA NATIONAL RANKINGS

ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon women’s lacrosse team remained sixth for the third consecutive week in the latest Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II Top 10 poll released Tuesday afternoon.

C.W. Post (3-0), the reigning national champion, remained No. 1 for the fifth consecutive week. The Pioneers took five of the 10 first-place votes and earned 95 points. Limestone (S.C.) (6-1) is tabbed second with four first-place votes and 88 points.

Adelphi (N.Y.) (3-0) picked up the final first-place vote, but was listed fourth with 68 points. West Chester moved ahead of Adelphi and into third place with 69 points. Stonehill (Mass.) (2-0) completes the top five.

Gannon (3-0), Lock Haven (1-1), Mercyhurst (3-2), Queens (N.C.) (6-1), and Belmont Abbey (6-3) round out the top 10.

Gannon opened the 2008 season with three victories during its Spring Trip, but has been idle since March 5 due to inclement weather. The Lady Knights earned victories against Rollins (Fla.) (20-5), St. Andrews Presbyterian (N.C.) (18-6), and 10th-ranked Belmont Abbey (15-11).

Taryn Millerd (Shortsville, N.Y./Midlakes) leads the Gannon offense with nine goals, seven assists, and 16 points. Colleen Dixon (Lafayette, N.Y./Lafayette) is the team’s top goal scorer with 13 scores in three matches. Dixon and Mary Eshenour (Waterloo, N.Y./Waterloo) have 14 points each.

Shauna Hutchinson (Islip Terrace, N.Y./East Islip) has started every match in goal, posting a 7.20 goals against average and .667 save percentage.

Gannon returns to action tonight (March 18) at Division I Canisius. The contest is a make-up of the March 9 match that was postponed due to inclement weather. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m
