GANNON WINS SECOND CONSECUTIVE
MATCH WITH 22-7 ROUT AT SETON HILL

GREENSBURG, Pa. - The Gannon women’s lacrosse team found the water to be calm for the second consecutive match Wednesday afternoon, rolling to an easy 22-7 victory at Seton Hill. The victory comes two days after a 23-2 decision over IUP.

As it did Monday evening against IUP, Gannon wasted little time scoring goals. Christina Blasi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton-LaSalle) drew first blood 1:22 into the match with an unassisted goal. Mary Eshenour (Waterloo, N.Y./Waterloo) netted two of the next three goals as the Lady Knights raced out to a 4-0 lead 3:04 into the affair.

Following Seton Hill’s first goal, Gannon rolled off another seven goals for an 11-1 lead. Taryn Millerd (Shortsville, N.Y./Midlakes) had three goals during the 7-0 run.

Gannon then ended the first half with five unanswered scores, capped by two goals from Antonia Cianfrocco (Chittenango, N.Y./Chittenango). The Lady Knights out-shot the Golden Griffins 23-9 in the first half and went to the intermission with a commanding 16-2 advantage.

The second half was played on more even terms as Gannon owned a slight edge in goals (6-5) and shots (11-8).

Eshenour and Millerd led the goal scorers with six each. Cianfrocco and Colleen Dixon (Lafayette, N.Y./Lafayette) added four and three goals, respectively. Blasi, Kayla Nelson (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego), and Sarah Belen (Oak Hill, Va./Oakton) completed the scoring with one goal each.

Blasi and Nelson dished out seven assists each. Shauna Hutchinson (Islip Terrace, N.Y./East Islip) recorded five saves while improving to 7-2 in goal.

Gannon, ranked ninth in NCAA Division II, improved to 8-3 with its second consecutive victory. Seton Hill dropped to 3-9. The Lady Knights return to action Friday, April 18 against Notre Dame (Ohio) at Gannon University Field. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
