GANNON IN SECOND AT MERCYHURST
WOMEN'S GOLF INVITATIONAL
ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon
women’s golf team sits in second place out of 10 teams after the first day
of action Saturday afternoon at the Mercyhurst Invitational hosted by Lake
View Country Club.
Ashland leads the field with a team score of 320. Gannon (330), Findlay (333),
the University of Toronto (344), and Kutztown (345) completed the top five.
Ashland’s Annie Miles sits at the front of the individual race with a two-over-par
74 during Saturday’s opening round. Jess Slonaker (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy)
was Gannon’s top golfer with an 80. The junior is tied for fourth place,
six strokes behind the leader.
Christa Cox (T8th, 82), Whitney Burkett (T8th, 82), Allyssa Ferriell (T17th,
86), Amanda Eckhart (T31st, 90), and Tarin Fedrizzi (T38th, 92) completed
Gannon’s six-member team.
Emily Quinn (T40th, 93), Brooke Pyle (T52nd, 99), and Abbey Welker (65th,
126) competed as individuals.
The Mercyhurst Invitational concludes Sunday, September 23 with the second
and final round.
