GANNON IN SIXTH AFTER FIRST DAY OF
GLIAC WOMEN'S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS
   
MIDLAND, Mich. - The Gannon women’s golf team resides in sixth place out of seven teams after the first day of the 2008 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships Sunday afternoon.
   
Grand Valley State leads the field with a score of 604, posting rounds of 297 and 307 on Sunday. Ferris State (307-313-620), Ashland (315-320-635), Findlay (331-326-657), and Northwood (332-337-669) complete the top five. Gannon is sixth with a 701 after rounds of 348 and 353.
   
Ferris State’s Becky Hoffman headlines the individual race with a two-round total of 149, shooting scores of 74 and 75. The next four lowest scores belong to Grand Valley State golfers.
   
Jess Slonaker (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) is Gannon’s top golfer, ending the second round tied for ninth place with a 158. The junior recorded rounds of 78 and 80.
   
Amanda Eckhart (28th, 91-81-172), Allyssa Ferriell (37th, 91-94-185), and Emily Quinn (38th, 88-98-186) complete Gannon’s four-member team. Whitney Burkett shot a 94 during the first round, before withdrawing from the event.
   
The GLIAC Championships conclude Monday, April 21 with the third and final round
