GANNON FINISHES SIXTH AT
ASHLAND WOMEN'S GOLF INVITATIONAL

SLONAKER WINS INDIVIDUAL TITLE
   
ASHLAND, Ohio - Gannon’s Jess Slonaker (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) captured her first individual title of the spring season Sunday afternoon with a first-place finish at the Ashland Women’s Golf Invitational hosted by the Country Club of Ashland.
   
Slonaker overcame a four-stroke deficit on the final day to win the title by one stroke over Dayton’s Katie Dempsey. Dayton is a Division I program. Slonaker was tied for fourth place with an 81 after the first round, but shot a 78 during Sunday’s final round for a two-day total of 159.
   
The team finished sixth out of 10 teams with a two-day score of 695, posting rounds of 347 and 348. The University of Dayton led from start to finish, producing a two-day total of 652. The Flyers recorded rounds of 316 and 336. Ashland (339-330-669), Allegheny (347-337-684), Lewis (345-340-685), and Findlay (346-347-693) completed the top five.
   
Amanda Eckhart (T15th, 81-90-171), Christa Cox (T34th, 90-88-178), Whitney Burkett (48th, 95-92-187), Brooke Pyle (T53rd, 95-101-196), and Allyssa Ferriell (56th, 98-101-199) rounded out Gannon’s team.
