GANNON WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM
RANKED 15TH IN PRESEASON POLL
DEFENDING GLIAC CHAMPIONS BEGIN PRACTICE THIS MONDAY
ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon
women’s basketball team is already getting national recognition in 2007-08
after one of the best seasons in school history last year. The Lady Knights
are ranked 15th in the 2007 Women’s Division II Bulletin Preseason
Top 25 released Friday afternoon.
Women’s Division II Bulletin, founded in 1993, is the leading publication
covering Division II women’s basketball. More information on Women’s Division

The University of North Dakota begins its final Division II season as the
No. 1 pick. The Fighting Sioux (32-4) returns three starters from last year’s
Elite Eight squad. The program will be a Division I member in 2008-09.
Southern Connecticut State, Emporia State, West Texas A&M, and Drury
(Mo.) completed the top five. Bentley (Mass.), Delta State, Washburn, Alaska
Anchorage, and Shaw rounded out the top 10.
Gannon is tabbed 15th after capturing its first-ever Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship last season. The Lady Knights are
the top-ranked GLIAC team in the preseason national rankings. Grand Valley
State is listed 24th.
Gannon returns eight letterwinners and four players who started at least
13 games from last year’s 25-6 squad. The Lady Knights have qualified for
10 consecutive GLIAC Tournaments, while advancing to four consecutive GLIAC
Final Fours. The program has appeared in three GLIAC title games since joining
the conference in 1995.
Ashley Lowdermilk (Kensington, Ohio/Carrollton) is the squad’s top
returning scorer with 11.6 points per game last season. The senior hit 39
three-pointers.
