ERIE, Pa. - Gannon’s Kristina Freeman (Yonkers, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) has been named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Freeman led Gannon to a perfect 2-0 record last week with home victories against Findlay (72-56) and Ashland (75-74). The sophomore guard averaged 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.5 steals in two games. She leads Gannon in scoring (15.7), three-pointers, (27), and steals (29) this season.

The Yonkers, N.Y., native recorded 15 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals during a 16-point victory against Findlay. The Lady Knights overcame a 19-2 deficit and a five-point halftime deficit against the Oilers. Freeman helped the cause with 13 points and four assists in the second half.

Freeman then tied a career-high with 24 points in another come-from-behind victory against Ashland. She helped Gannon rally from a 12-point second-half deficit with 10 points in the final 20 minutes. Her three-pointer capped the rally and tied the game at 68 with 3:42 to play.

Gannon (11-4, 5-1) returns to action Thursday, January 17 at Ferris State. The Bulldogs defeated the Lady Knights twice last season, including an 80-61 verdict in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m. The game can be heard live on Jet Radio 1400 and via the Internet at http://www.gannon.edu/sports/werg/knightsound.ihtml
