GANNON CLINCHES 11TH CONSECUTIVE
GLIAC TOURNAMENT APPEARANCE

LADY KNIGHTS WIN IN FINDLAY FOR SIXTH CONSECUTIVE TIME

FINDLAY, Ohio - Home away from home. The Croy Gymnasium must feel like that to the Gannon women’s basketball team. The Lady Knights posted their sixth consecutive victory at Croy Gymnasium Saturday afternoon with a hard-fought 85-80 victory over Findlay. As a result, the Lady Knights clinched their 11th consecutive GLIAC Tournament appearance.

Gannon also remained in the chase for second place in the GLIAC South Division and the quarterfinal home game that accompanies it. The Lady Knights need to defeat Mercyhurst in the regular-season finale on February 23 and have Wayne State lose its last two games against Ashland and Hillsdale to capture the second seed.

Gannon has been successful in recent years at Findlay, but not without some intense battles. The Lady Knights’ scoring margin during its previous five wins at Findlay was 5.8 points. Saturday’s contest was no different.

The Peach Street kids led 38-36 at halftime and out-scored the Oilers 47-44 in the second half.

Kristina Freeman (Yonkers, N.Y./Pelham Memorial) led Gannon with a career-high 30 points and eight rebounds. Ashley Lowdermilk (Kensington, Ohio/Carrollton), who had a big final 10 minutes, netted 19 markers. Tiffany Crocker (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) and Allison Rothlisberger (New Martinsville, W.Va./Magnolia) added 10 points each.

Gannon shot 44.6 percent (29-65) from the field, 32 percent (8-25) from three-point range, and 86.4 percent (19-22) from the free throw line.

Brittany Wells led Findlay with 22 points and seven rebounds. Jessica Vorst posted 17 points. Audra Mihalic and Ashley Westenbarger chipped in 15 and 13 points, respectively.

Findlay shot 46.6 percent (27-58) from the floor, 38.5 percent (10-26) from behind the arc, and 76.2 percent (16-21) from the charity stripe.

Gannon improved to 15-10 overall and 9-7 in the GLIAC with its second consecutive victory. Findlay dropped to 9-15 overall and 3-12 in conference play. The Lady Knights return to action Tuesday, February 19 against Tiffin at the Hammermill Center. The squad’s final non-conference game of the season is scheduled for 7 p.m. The regular-season concludes Saturday, February 23 against Mercyhurst at the Hammermill Center. Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m.
