GANNON REMAINS PERFECT IN CWPA
ACTION WITH 12-1 ROUT OF SALEM
ERIE,
Pa. - The Gannon men’s water polo team remained perfect in Collegiate Water
Polo Association (CWPA) action Friday night with a 12-1 trouncing of Salem
International at the Carneval Athletic Pavilion.
Gannon opened a 6-0 lead 5:37 into the match and never looked back in the
11-goal victory. Seven different players tallied goals, including five with
multiple-goal performances.
Andy Baker (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep), Richie DiLoreto (Erie, Pa./McDowell),
Kyle Kelleran (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg), Rob Bullion (Tonawanda,
N.Y./Kenmore East), and Greg Evanoff (McKean, Pa./General McLane)
scored two goals each.
John Stedding (Owings Mills, Md./Calvert Hall) and Pat Mack (Boiling
Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) completed the scoring with one goal apiece.
Darren Stone (Glenwood, Durban, South Africa) recorded 11 saves in
goal.
Gannon improved to 4-5 overall and 2-0 in the CWPA with its second consecutive
victory. Salem International dropped to 0-2 in conference play. The Tigers’
overall record was not available.
Gannon returns to action Saturday, September 29 with two road contests in
the local area. The Golden Knights play at Penn State Behrend (5:30 p.m.)
before traveling to Mercyhurst (8 p.m.).
