MUSILLE
BARELY MISSES CUT IN
100-YARD FREESTYLE
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Despite an
impressive finish of 46.06 seconds in the men’s 100-yard freestyle
preliminaries Saturday afternoon, Gannon’s Paul Musille (Canton, Ohio/Glen Oak)
failed to qualify for the final event at the NCAA Division II National
Swimming Championships.
Musille finished 22nd out of 36 swimminers in the prelims, needing to
place 16th or higher to advance. The top time was 44.78. He fell short
of 16th place by 0.47 seconds.
The Canton, Ohio native holds three individual school records and was
part of four relay teams that produced school records. The senior is
the school’s record holder in the 50-freestyle (20.87), the
100-freestyle (45.85), and the 200-freestyle (1:41.35). He was also a
member of relay teams that hold school records in the 200-yard
freestyle (1:23.88), the 400-yard freestyle (3:06.20), the 200-yard
medley (1:33.70), and the 400-yard medley (3:29.55).
