GANNON'S MUSILLE BREAKS SCHOOL
RECORD AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
COLUMBIA, Mo. - Gannon’s
Paul Musille (Canton, Ohio/Glen Oak) set a new school record Wednesday
morning during the 50-yard freestyle prelims at the NCAA Division II Swimming
Championships hosted by the Mizzou Aquatic Center. Unfortunately, it wasn’t
enough to push him into the finals after an extremely fast-paced prelim round.
Musille finished 20th out of 41 swimmers in Wednesday morning’s prelims with
a 20.87 time, breaking the school record that he previously set by 0.01 second.
The top 16 swimmers moved into tonight’s finals.
The Canton, Ohio native will have two more chances to advance to the national
finals in other events. He will swim in the 200-yard freestyle on Thursday
and the 100-yard freestyle on Saturday.
Musille holds three individual school records and was part of four relay
teams that produced school records. The senior is the school’s record holder
in the 50-freestyle (20.87), the 100-freestyle (45.85), and the 200-freestyle
(1:42.30). He was also a member of relay teams that hold school records in
the 200-yard freestyle (1:23.88), the 400-yard freestyle (3:06.20), the 200-yard
medley (1:33.70), and the 400-yard medley (3:29.55).
