GANNON
LADY KNIGHTS IMPROVE TO
FOURTH AT GLIAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The
Gannon University women’s swimming team jumped one spot to fourth place
in the second day of competition at the four-day-long Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships, hosted by
the University of Indianapolis, Thursday evening.
Wayne State held on to the top spot with 333 points. Grand Valley State
(249), Indianapolis (194), Gannon (133.5), and Lewis (126) round out
the top five.
The men’s squad dropped one spot to sixth. Grand Valley State (248),
Wayne State (203), Lewis (196), Indianapolis (195), and Ashland (176)
sit ahead of the Golden Knights (165).
The Lady Knights’ best showing came in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Rachel Rzymek (Erie, Pa./McDowell), Ashlee Calandra (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier),
Brenna Pease (Erie, Pa./Iroquois),
and Ellie Hess (Lower Burrell,
Pa./Burrell) took fourth in the event in 1 minute, 40.22
seconds.
Gannon’s men’s team placed second in the 200 freestyle relay. Richie DiLoreto (Erie, Pa./McDowell),
John Krakowski (Erie, Pa./Cathedral
Prep), Seth Hazlett
(Leechburg, Pa./Kiski Area), and Paul Musille (Canton, Ohio/Glen Oak)
finished the event in 1:24.51.
Musille placed third in the 50 freestyle (21.26).
Connor Wolf (Canton, Ohio/Central
Catholic), DiLoreto, Hazlett, and Musille finished third with a
time of 3:29.50 in the 400 medley relay.
Tomorrow’s action will include the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200
freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 800 freestyle relay, and
men’s 1-meter diving.
