GANNON CONCLUDES FIRST DAY
AT GLIAC CHAMPIONSHIPS

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Gannon University men’s and women’s swimming teams each stand in fifth place after completing the first of four days at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships Wednesday, hosted by the University of Indianapolis.
   
Wayne State leads the men’s competition with 114 points. Grand Valley State (56), Indianapolis (49), Ashland (49), and Gannon (46) round out the top five.
  
In the women’s competition, Grand Valley State leads all competitors with 93 points, followed by Lewis (82), Indianapolis (75), Wayne State (70), and Gannon (52).
   
The day began with the women’s 200-yard medley relay. The team of Sarah Lawton (Franklin, Pa./Franklin), Rachel Rzymek (Erie, Pa./McDowell), Liz Clary (Canton, Ohio/Glen Oak), and Ellie Hess (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell) gave Gannon a fifth-place finish with a time of 1 minute, 49.75 seconds. Wayne State placed first (1:47.52).
   
The Golden Knights completed the men’s 200 medley relay in 1:33.70, giving them a third-place finish. Richie DiLoreto (Erie, Pa./McDowell), Connor Wolf (Canton, Ohio/Central Catholic), Seth Hazlett (Leechburg, Pa./Kiski Area), and Paul Musille (Canton, Ohio/Glen Oak) represented Gannon in the event. Grand Valley State took the relay in 1:32.38.
   
Ashlee Calandra (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier) placed third in the women’s 1650 freestyle in 17:47.29 for the Lady Knights.
   
Gannon’s Brandon Chambers (Jessup, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) took fourth in men’s 3-meter diving. The junior earned 204.30 points.

Gannon continues action Thursday, February 14 in the 200 freestyle relay, 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle, 400 medley relay, and women’s 1-meter diving.
