GANNON SWIMMERS SPLIT
MEET WITH EDINBORO

EDINBORO, Pa. - The Gannon Univesrity men’s and women’s swimming teams faced local rival Edinboro University for the second time in as many days Saturday afternoon at a tri-meet held at Edinboro. Clarion University also participated at the event.
   
The Gannon men’s squad defeated Edinboro 133-71 but fell 117-85 to Clarion.
   
Connor Wolf (Canton, Ohio/Central Catholic) and John Krakowski (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) recorded double-wins for the Golden Knights. Wolf and Krakowski joined Richie DiLoreto (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and Seth Hazlett (Leechburg, Pa./Kiski Area) in a 1:39.20 take of the 200-yard medley relay. Krakowski needed only 22.27 to finish first in the 50-yard freestyle. Wolf took top spot in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.28, just five one-hundreths of a second faster than Edinboro’s Derek Sapp.
   
In women’s action, the Lady Knights fell to Edinboro 115-86 and Clarion 136-68.
   
Freshman Ellie Hess (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell) won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:59.48.     
   
Gannon hosted a separate diving event against Clarion University at the Carneval Athletic Pavilion, on the campus of Gannon University, Saturday afternoon. No team scores were kept.
   
The Lady Knights faced three All-Americans on Clarion’s women’s squad. Ginny Saras, Teagan Riggs, and Jena Gardone each earned the honor last year.
   
Megan Beresford (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) placed third in three-meter diving (207.53) and fifth in the one-meter event (207.68).
   
Gannon’s Brandon Chambers (Jessup, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) finished second in both the one-meter (163.58) and three-meter (165.90) competitions.
   
Swimming action continues on Saturday, February 2. Gannon will travel to Indiana University of Pennsylvania for a dual beginning at 1 p.m.
