SPLITS SWIMMING DUAL
AGAINST RIVAL EDINBORO
ERIE, Pa. - The Gannon
University swimming teams played host to local rival Edinboro
University for men’s and women’s swimming duals action Friday evening.
In men’s highlights, the Golden Knights defeated the Fighting Scots
109-91. Richie DiLoreto (Erie,
Pa./McDowell), Seth Hazlett
(Leechburg, Pa./Kiski Area), and John Krakowski (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep)
were double-winners. They took the 400-yard medley relay in 3:37.24
with Connor Wolf (Canton,
Ohio/Central Catholic). DiLoreto won the 50-yard freestyle with
a time of 21.52. Hazlett earned his double-win with a 2:02.78
top-finish in the 200-yard butterfly. Krakowski took first in the
100-yard freestyle (49.28).
Freshman Michael Piper (Houston,
Texas, Clear Lake) also recorded a double-win. The Texas-native
won the 400-yard IM in 4:29.04 and the 200-yard backstroke with a time
of 2:01.87.
Edinboro bested the Lady Knights with a 105-99 victory.
Ellie Hess (Lower Burrell, Pa./Burrell)
produced a triple-win for Gannon’s women’s squad. Hess won the 200-yard
freestyle (1:58.98) and the 100-yard freestyle (55.17). The freshman
joined Ashlee Calandra (Hamburg,
N.Y./Frontier), Liz Clary (Canton, Ohio/Westerville North), and Brenna Pease (Erie, Pa./Iroquois) in
an 8:08.84 take of the 800-yard freestyle relay.
Gannon will face Edinboro and Clarion in a tri-meet hosted by Edinboro
University on Saturday, January 20. Gannon and Clarion’s diving teams
will compete at a separate competition at Gannon University on the same
day. Both events are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
